by Kara Haupt 48 pages, stapled
Kara Haupt wrote herself a pep talk every day for 45 days and then turned them all into a zine. And it's awfully inspiring. I took this zine with me when I went off on a week-long, self-directed writing residency in the Catskills and credit it with getting me out of bed each morning. Haupt is the creator of Babe Vibes, a collection of work by creative women (from their website: "We tell stories, interview babes, and make publications + projects."). The print zine was so successful that Haupt went on to design an online Pep Talk Generator, gathering pep talks written by hundreds of women she admires (bookmark it now for when you're having a bad day). "45 Pep Talks" is beautiful—black and white, minimal, with clean lines and impeccable typography. You can read it all the way through or just pop it open for a little pick me up. My favorite pep talk:
"You are yours. Do the best you can"
